Mike71
Last night on the way home, I started experiencing a quick, but hard wobble felt through the wheel, coming from the driver side front wheel area. It seemed to get progressively less intermittent as I drove. It typically would last for only a second and then it would stop. I turned down the radio and fan to also hear what sounded like a chirping sound near the front tire, almost like it would rub for a second, but it's not. Turns appear to be fine. I have a leaky power steering pump, which was just topped off yesterday, so I can't help but think that it's related. Tires were also inflated to proper PSI yesterday and they're the standard size. EJ22 engine. Anyone have an idea on what could be the issue? I took a quick look last night and I don't see anything obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated! EVOthis
hmmm..How many miles are on the vehicle? You mentioned you didn't see anything during the visual? So the steering wheel wobbles like when your cruising at say 50 or 60mph? Does it shake when you apply the brake? Have you had any recent maintenance performed? Mike71
No recent maintenance. 111K miles. I just raised the tire for a better look and now see at least part of the issue. CV boot has been completely torn off, exposing the joint. Yesterday, I had gone down a muddy, gravel road in the rain. My guess is that enough crap got into the joint to cause the issue. The tire spins in neutral with more noise and resistance than the other side. I'm not sure why it would be intermittent, but the joint obviously needs attention and I guess I'll go from there.
