While searching for info on the Brat last week, before purchasing my First, I came across a Factoid (that I have since lost).

 

If I remember correctly, it stated that there were something like 92 thousand Brats imported to the US during the 78 to (what ever date they stopped US Import).

 

That does seem like a very small number but it true, that could explain the current demand I have noted.

 

Any info on this trivia would of interest to me or others.

yep, and rumor i heard is a few of the mid 80's BRATS were never actually sold to anyone and sit in Warehouse store room of the Dealerships' owner and I am trying to make one become mine

 

Going to find out shortly if he will sell an unsold BRAT to me.
