What triggers the dash "Brake" light to turn on. I know when fluid is down and when the E-Brake is pulled. What else will trigger the light?

 

The car is an XT6, the light will come on dimly when the brakes are pressed. The fluid has been checked and is full.

 

Any thoughts?

Some Subarus have STOP LAMP, others I have seen have a brake light. If you dont have Stop lamp then check the bulbs in the brakelights. If they are all good its the indicator for the master cylinder complaining about fluid level or its sticking.
