My car doesn't idle. And yes, I've searched around.. please help :(

Featured Replies

I just picked up an 85 GL wagon last week. Body is in great shape, except for some minor rust in the rear wheel well.

Anyways, the car starts up fine, runs well, but once it starts engine starts warming up the car dies. It won't idle at all. I've checked for vac leaks, sprayed down everything with some carb cleaner, still nothing.

What else should I start looking into?? Replace the carb?? That's what I'm thinking of doing....

Help please!! Wanna get this thing out on the trail this weekend!!

Start by checking fuel level in carby sight glass.

maybe a clogged idle circuit? try the Sea Foam treatment search 'sea foam' for results

thats got to be it. when ideling cold extra fuel is used, when fully warm it idles solely from the idle air controll valve, or IAC , they can be taken out and cleaned, but you dont have a rough idle, you have no idle. check it electrically, or look for one from a junk yard
