For the past month or so, my Forester has sounded like an off road truck with big knobby tires ( making a humming sound) rolling down the highway. I just had my snow tires taken off today and was hoping that was the problem but it wasn't. When I get it up to 40+ mph I can hear a interior rattle coming from the back of the car. I don't feel any vibrations in the steering wheel. Do any of you have any thoughts of what could be the cause of this humming sound. Thanks, Bill

If it's a deep, loud humm. I'd say a wheel bearing most likely.

+1 on wheel bearing trouble!

Replace it with a wheel bearing out of a legacy. The foresters used a ball-bearing rear wheel bearing while the legacys used a tapered roller. The tapered roller holds up much better.
