5 speed dual range swap

Featured Replies

my 4 speed dual range blew up and i was thinking about doing a 5 speed dual range swap. i was wondering if i would need a new rear dif. and a different clutch. i already know i would need new CV's, but i wasnt sure about clutch and dif.

my car is an 82 gl wagon w/ ea81

forgot to say what kind of car i had

You dont need a new rear diff and you dont need new axles. That stuff is all the same. You need the flywheel from the EA82 and the clutch for that. You will need to modify the trans mounts to fit or modify the trans crossmember to fit. Have to grid down the bottom of the motor bellhousing to fit the flywheel. And you will need to fab up the carrier bearing to the bodyfor the EA82 drive line.

Do some searching around here, there is alot of right ups on how to do this. I have done it myself with both ways on the trans mounts.
