MegaSquirt on EZ series engines?

Featured Replies

Ok, I'm planning to install an EZ30D into my 87 wagon. I would love to try an EZ30R, but funding says "Don't even think about it!" So, EZ30D will have to suffice. However, I want to use a standalone ECU so that I may squeeze every last drop of torque out of it and MegaSquirt seems to be a good place to start. Wiring is not a problem for me, but fabbing things are. :-\ However, I do have a machine shop and fabrication shop available, if I need that kind of work done. Hopefully, I will need very little.:)

So, has any of you worked with MS?

Thanks,

Ted

I have the d on stock wiring in my xt6. I also had an xt turbo with ms but sold it to my BIL. He's putting it on to a dohc 2.5 and running into trouble with the ignition. Watch out for the fuel rails as well as the ez is a partial returnless system. Other then that it should be fairly straight forward.

Yeah, I've read the 6/7 encoder wheels Subaru uses are a challenge to get MS to sync with. The 36-2-2-2 seems better for the EJ series. As far as the fuel system, you say the EZ is a partial returnless? So, I'm guessing the fuel pump controller that Subaru has adjusts the fuel pressure by adjusting the fuel pump speed? That's interesting.....I wonder why the did that? If that is the case, I may need to have a separate fuel pressure regulator and possibly custom fuel rails. That shouldn't be too difficult.... BTW, how many codes does the EZ computer complain about all the time in your XT6? Thanks
