Fellers,

 

hood just won't pop up so I can release the hood. Cable seems to perhaps have too much slack, is there another way to reach the latch from under the car? it is a '97 OBW with 289k miles. Battery is dead so I need to get in there to add a new battery.

try holding the release and slamming the door i have to do that with mine its just enuff to pop it then spray wd-40 or something like that on the latch mechanism

do you mean slamming the door or trying to slam the hood?

Have someone push down on the hood the then pull the release lever. I you need to reach up to the cable at the lever and pull it down some as well.

 

Then have the person open the hood.
