i have a 2005 2.5 gt legacy and i have had major problems with it.....i just had an engine overhaul done on it to replace faulty piston rings mostly, my car ran fine before and was just slowly loosing oil due to some leaks in the rings. Now i just got my car back about a week ago....it seemed to be driving ok at first but now it seems worse. Its a standard and when i put the car in 1st and start driving it is very slow to start and the motor sounds almost like im holding the clutch in and pushing the gas hard at the same time. However my foot is not even on the clutch and my car doesn't start moving until it hits about 3000 rpm......im beyond frustrated and dont know what to do. People tell me to let it break in and the parts just need to get used before they are working like they used to but i don't know any new car that would drive like this that anyone would want to buy. it just doesnt seem right.....any ideas?

The clutch is slipping. Probably soaked with oil.

Wondering if whomever did the engine work forgot to torque the pressure plate?

If the clutch is oil-soaked, you shouldn't smell it when it is slipping. Other hand if not oil-soaked and slipping, that really stinks. No mistaking it.
