i droped a valve seat had the heads rebuilt in an 85 gl wagon. when i disassembled the heads i did not keep the cam follower's or the lifters in order. is this going to flat spot the cams like a pushrod motor or no worries?

It could.

But it probably won't

 

I've assembled these motors "mix n match" style before without noticing any trouble.

 

You are more apt to have a problem getting oil pressure to the HLAs than with the Cam followers. Make sure you replace the Cam Case O-ring and you've got a good oil pump with fresh seals.

If the follower has a flat spot worn into it already,it may cause problems. If you can't detect any wear on the follower with your finger,you should be fine.
