Engine block heater question!

Featured Replies

I'm trying to decide whether to install the 2010 Forester stock block heater now, while the engine is like two months old or install a circulating tank heater between now and November. If memory serves me correctly, it appeared there was about 4" between the install location (plug) and the top of the header. I've read that even on newer engines the plug can be a real bear. My question is will the allen fitting and my cheater bar have enough room without lowering the header? There also is the consideration that I'll lose leverage with the universal at the end of my bar (it'll definitely be on an angle) if everything does fit. Thank You!

Seems to me like it would be easier to get one of those ones that goes in the lower radiator hose.

If you're dead set on the screw in type, it's 5 bolts to lower the manifold for extra room, and about $6 for two new gaskets.

Most certainly not dead set. In fact I kind of prefer the tank/circulating kind just because they actually do a better job.
