Just what the title says - can you interchange the EA71 and EA81 camshafts?

 

Presumably, if you compare the specs (lift, duration, etc), they would be different.

 

The reason I ask is because I wonder if, for example, a EA71 camshaft would give better performance to an EA81 and vice versa.

I have recently had both EA81 and EA71 cases apart and the cams were completely different.

 

Are they different in terms of how they fit, or in terms of their specs.

 

What I mean is will one physically fit in the other.
