I have a 1980 brat 4wd

and a 78 or 79 brat motor trans..

 

I understand that the 78 or 79 trans has lower gear ratio's than the 80???

 

So how does one tell the diffence between the different transmissions?

Geez,I had no idea about lower ratios but then again there's the mystery of 1976 ..... (final drive ration - so you don't have to ask)

the gear ratio page says that the 1979 transmission has lower ratio's than the 1980 and beyond transmissions. i want to confirm what transmissions I have, because a first gear difference of 4 to 3.6 is like a 10% difference.

 

Decal tags???? Were would this be placed??? Cant find anything on transmission.

May just have to turn the transmission and count the revolutions.

Ok, figured it out... Just did a rpm / tire size / speed calculation and figured out what Tranie i have.... Thanks.
