power window trouble

Featured Replies

Hey, my power windows in my xt6 decided to stop working today, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before. the electric motors do not make any attempt to move either window, which makes me think that they are not getting any power. I replaced the fuse labeled "Meter Engine (Window)", and still nothing. Any ideas?

bump for rain in the forecast and my windows still not rolling up :-\

I have had good luck taking the switches apart and cleaning the contacts. Be extremely careful as there are a lot of small parts inside.

Remove the door panel and unplug the switch then remove it from the panel. Take the screws out of the back and carefully pull apart. I would do this over something that can catch any small parts that may fall out. Inside will be small rocker contacts clean both ends and the contact surface in the switch. Reassemble in reverse order and plug in the switch try before you put it back in the panel.

Good luck and pay attention to how it comes apart.

I can't remember but didn't you end up with my old XT6, the white one with the different color body panels? if so, its just the connector on the drivers door came loose, it happened once every couple of months.

and if it is my old xt you want to sell it back to me?? lol

Clean out the contacts on the master switch.

Espescially the "lockout" button. All the grounds for every window run through that contact, and when it gets all covered in carbon it stops working.
