September 9, 201015 yr My loyale has a d/r 5 speed swapped into it. I noticed recently that it has a not loud but noticable clunk sound that repeats for what sounds like every rotation of the driveline. It only does it in 4wd. If its in low range, or high. Does not do it in 2wd. Any ideas? Thanks
September 9, 201015 yr Check the driveline itself for obstructions or something on it, ect. Sounds like something is stuck on it somewhere. Hopefully it's something simple like that. But I would get under the car and see if that tells you anything new...
September 9, 201015 yr Author The problem I see with that is it only makes the sound in 4wd. Even in 2wd the driveline is spinning. But I will crawl under there and look for something unusual.
September 9, 201015 yr I am just applying the KISS (keep it simple stupid) to this, that's all First thing I have learned in diagnosing ANYTHING is to start simple. You might find your problem is completely obvious, then again you might not. If you don't find anything unusual, then we can atleast rule out the simple
September 9, 201015 yr is it lifted? could it be a u joint binding up? Edited September 9, 201015 yr by Seantheimpaler
September 10, 201015 yr Author Yes, its lifted 2". I'll jack up the car and spin the wheels to see if I can find it. It also has a welded rearend. Might have something to do with that also.
September 12, 201015 yr Author Another question I have is how can I straighten out the camber of the front wheels? They have positive camber and are wearing the tires very unevenly.
September 13, 201015 yr Look in the offroad section about lifted camber adjustment. But it boils down to needing to move the strut tops inward to get rid of the camber. When I got my GL it was lifted with straight down blocks. Awful front camber and bad tire wear. What I ended up doing was drilling new holes in the top of the strut tower to fix the camber. And moving the whole strut top in. Now I have pretty close to perfect camber on both sites. I think one side is +0.1%. Or something negligible.
