howpow
Hi . I have a 1987 XT Turbo with the Manual 5 speed 2wd gearbox. I was wondering what is involved in mating a EJ22 to this gearbox (if possible). Any info would be appreciated. Sorry I posted this and couldn't find it so I posted again. idosubaru
in general you need an adapter plate. folks on here make them or you can try and fabricate one yourself. there's even a thread discussing how to do that. i think you're posting based on GD's response in his other thread: The clutch is going to be the major issue as the T/O assembly and spline count of the 2WD 5 speed's is totally different than the 4WD 5 speed's. GD original thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=115889 what i would do is to go to the store and compare your trans throw out bearing and clutch (and maybe pilot bearing) to an EJ or EA set. comparing stuff visually often puts things in perspective.
