November 10, 201015 yr Just put a new ej22 in my 95 legacy and am having a flow issue. The engine is maintaining normal temp but the lower radiator hose is COLD after more than an hour of run time. The driver side heater core hose is also cold and there is no heat. Advice! Going crazy trying to figure it out. New water pump and thermostat. Could it possibly be a bad pump?? November 10, 201015 yr How about you keep to the thread you already started about this same issue instead of starting a new one? Check for plugs in the hoses, hose attachment points, possibly clogged radiator, siezed water pump, or stuck thermostat. It's not rocket science.
November 10, 201015 yr Was it a Subaru OEM T-Stat? Did you put it in the correct way? (spring towards the engine) Does the temp gauge stay steady or rise and fall?
November 10, 201015 yr Author Your right, it's not rocket science but it is being very difficult. Yes, the temp rises and falls a small amount. The Tstat is in correct.
November 10, 201015 yr I had a similar problem in my daughter's 97 2.2, stone cold lower hose but I think she had heat... I can't remember and it wasn't cold weather at the time. Temp rose and fell while driving, not a lot but maybe between 1/2 and 5/8 of the way up and never overheated. New T-Stat and a correct burp fixed the problem. After 2 years the temp stays steady and NEVER deviates from the 1/2 mark. Has the T-Stat in yours been changed or is it new from the engine swap? The reason I ask is it would be unusual (but not unheard of) to have 2 in a row bad but the one from the swap could be bad from the beginning.
November 10, 201015 yr Author Thank you! I just put a brand new OEM tstat in. Had the same problem with the last tstat that was also new but was bought from shucks.
November 10, 201015 yr i'd burp it again. that's what it sounds like it needs. and if that doesn't help i'd remove the t-stat for a test run and see if it moves coolant then. that should tell you something.
