dirtywork Posted November 27, 2010 Share Posted November 27, 2010 3AT trans governor question- should the gear on the end of the governor assembly turn or does the whole assembly spin under the domed cover all the time? The car has to be moving to turn this piece. it is simple enough to take out and put back in. the gear at the end meshes to the diff. Look for any wear on the gear. NorthWet Posted November 27, 2010 Share Posted November 27, 2010 Yes, the gear is fixed to the governor assembly, and the entire assembly rotates. As the entire assemble spins, the valve's pistons push outwards against spring pressure, and the moving pistons close and uncover hydraulic passages within the valve. MilesFox Posted November 28, 2010 Share Posted November 28, 2010 If you take the piece out, you can clean out the little holes by moving the parts and spraying carb cleaner in it.
