ea82 na pistons in ea82T

Featured Replies

found sets of pistons on ebay 140 shipped na or turbo. Looking at rebuilding a 86 MPFI EA82T. Alot of Nissan Z31 owners swap na 9:1 pistons into their turbo 3.0L V6. This creates faster spool and better fuel economy. I dont plan on running higher boost than stock and will mount a FMIC to help with detonation, also highest octane available at a gastation. 1986 GL Turbo Wagon

I have run mpfi turbo on a carb ea82 block with 9.0:1 compression. You should be ok with stock parameters. You can save yourself all the work and find a solid shortblock from a carb ea82.

what will that do, turbo blocks have a extra hole tapped in it for knock sensor

The hole is there on all EA82s. Usually tapped, but if not, that's easy.

The ACTUAL difference in the blocks is the large PVC port on the case. It really isn't a big deal Just hook up PCV like an SPFI would be.

But if you really WANT to swap pistons that's fairly easy, without splitting the case.

Don't up boost with this setup......the NA piston tops are much thinner than the Turbo ones.
