Howdy Everyone,

I just pick my 85 GL wagon two weeks ago, and still trying to get it on the road, but still excited to get a classic subie. It's got 112,000 miles on it, and runs good, once you take the 15 minutes to get it started in morning.

After it starts, and warms up it runs great! So here I am trying to figure it out as I go along. I am so glad I found you guys. Any ideas?

Thank you for your time!

forgot the pic!

Nice looking EA82 wagon. If you need more info and help diagnosing problems, go to the Old Gen forum and post as much info as you possibly can about what it is and is not doing. And don't forget to post the year, make, and model.

Also, spend a little time with the search function. play with it, try different key words. You'll be surprised how many people have had the same or similar issues.

Again, Welcome to the Board!

Thanks... WoW a lot cool stuff on here. I am hooked! And it looks like i'll be putting on a weber carb!

Cheers

You definately need to figure out if the choke is working on the carb you have right now. It could be as simple as the fuse being blown for the choke circuit. Switching carbs wouldn't help that as well, the Weber needs a power wire to the choke too.

You are right... I checked it and the fuse is good. So I have been looking for just the electric choke. Impossible to find (so far). I have been told that I have to buy a whole carb if I want the choke. ? :-\

So I figured if I have to do that, might as well bite the bullet and go all the way with it. :)

I found a used Hitachi carb in my stash today, I think it came from an 84 EA81 but I think the choke is probably the same. Its riveted on so we would have to drill and rivet it back to yours. 6 pack of Corona if you want to come try it.

Thanks man, but you won't believe this... My mechanic buddy found two carbs at Loveland Auto Savalge today. We are going to see if we can get one to work tomorrow. 50 bucks for both of them!

But hey, thanks for all your help! I will for sure be hitting you up next time I need something for my subie.
