Wheels for 2002 Outback wagon

Featured Replies

I'm looking for extra wheels for rally cross. Will steel wheels from a 2003 Forester fit my 2002 OBW? Any other suggestions for spare rally cross wheels (these will be for snow tires)? Will steel wheels affect performance? (posted by the wife of Littlefish)

The Forester wheels should work just fine. The biggest disadvantage will be the added weight of the steel wheels vs. alloy wheels. Also the Steel wheels will flex a bit more that an alloy wheel too. If you are just getting into RallyX, I would not worry about it. Learning to drive is more important than anything else.

The weight difference is negligible when running heavy offroad/snow tires.

Plus steel wheels can often be beaten back into shape if they get bent. Aluminum, if it doesn't crack, is a royal pita to hammer back into useable shape.

One the 01 and newer Outback you need at least 16" wheels (if factory) in order to clear the brake calipers in the front. Not sure if the Foz had the same brake setup by then.
