1988 GL Wagon Problem!

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new here. I own a 1988 GL Wagon that just cut out on me while driving. I can't seem to get it started now, any suggestions? The tag under the hood says it has a JFJ 1.9L engine and I know it has a carburetor. I took off the cap and cranked it and the rotor didn't move. Am I correct in assumming that the timing belt/or belts snapped? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

yes, that is the sign for broken belts. but not all is lost. i did my first timing belt a year ago. it just takes time ,get a good manul ,there might be a link that has more detail? good luck todd

your not looking at the right numbers unless you've got a very strange engine swap, it should say "ea82" in a box right at the top of the block behind the timing belt covers and its a 1.8l ohc motor. But yeah sounds like timing belts.
