I’m in the process of replacing the engine coolant temperature sensor on my 1998 outback 2.5 and have gotten to the point where I have to get the connector off the sensor. I have tried all the things I have used over the years to get connectors apart squeezing prying etc but no luck. The last thing I want to do is break this connector since I’m not even sure the sensor is bad.

 

I have seen the post below which is excellent but it simply says remove connector.

Any advice on how to get it off would be much appreciated. I have everything that can be taken off out of the way so I have as good as access as I’ll ever have. It is really tight down there.

You may have to push the connector in a little bit as it may be catching on the tab for the sensor. Pushing it in may loosen it enough where you can press the tab down and remove the connector.

overheating the EJ25 or did you get a code for this?
