March 3, 201115 yr Hi I bought a 94 Honda Civic for $500 and my XBOX 360 and traded that for a 1987 Subaru GL-10 and couldn't be happier. I live in Texas and have never seen another one around and my co-workers call it the slab wagon. Just want to say thank you and hope to have fun here on USMB!

Sounds like a good trade, the GL's have a special place in my heart for sure. I currently own an 87 GL10, and two 89 GL's. All project cars but once the warmer weather comes I will become more of a garage rat. There is tons of info here and a lot of it needs to be searched for. Post some pics of the car if you could:headbang:

March 3, 201115 yr Haha, love that car. Never had one that generation, but I could only imagine it's granny's grocery wagon on steroids!
March 3, 201115 yr Thats what I figured, you guys have all the luck down south and out west. Looks like it's in really nice shape. We have a handful of them around here, all rusted out or on their way to be. The only reason my 87 is basically rust free is because it was transported a few times from NC, and it still has some wicked paint fade. As far as lifting, SJR is the way to go. http://www.sjrlift.com/ He will get you up to 6", and that is pretty big if you look in the gallery section.
March 3, 201115 yr Author Yeah that is whatf I was planning on going with and eventually do some sort of drivetrain swap, I tried looking at what rear ends, transmission, and like suspension components can be retrofited mostly looking at axles and control arms that I could bolt in to get a wider wheelbase. Also would do a motor swap looking into EJ20 to stay turboed or EJ25 for NA fun and just do basic bolt ons and spec for good low end torque. Also my car is a bucket but I like it. It has some rust but pretty well taken care of.
March 14, 201115 yr Author Hopefully I will have built enough credit to get like a yaris something economical since gas is almost $4.00 a gallon
March 14, 201115 yr Haha, up here in Canada we're paying $1.32/litre, that's $5.00/gallon! I was up in canada a few weeks ago and couldn't believe how expensive gas was!!
March 15, 201115 yr Author I honestly want to get the FT86 or Toyobaru but I want Subaru's hatchback version!
