84 radio wiring diagram?

Featured Replies

anybody out there know which stereo wires do what in my car's wiring?

ignition hot is easy, ground's easy, constant hot I'll add to it.

but for the speakers, what color are the one's running to the rear, pos and neg? I did do a search, but my halfass attempt came up empty. somebody help a guy out who's not talented enough to track down this info?:slobber:

there is a common ground. there are 6 wires to all 4 spakers. both rears share a ground, both fronts share a ground.

the aftermarket radio will connect 6 of these waire. leave one front ground, and one rear ground unused on the stereo.

When I did mine, a search revealed newer radios don't like the common ground thing, and it was recommended to run new speaker wires, which I did.

Just an FYI.

crap! I was kinda wondering if seperate grounds would be the better way to go. I was really hoping I could just splice it in to the exisiting wiring and be done. :slobber:

aw well, think I'll put some speakers in the front doors, and uphgrade the rears while I'm at it.
