The check engine on a 1997 legacy L comes on after driving for 3 hours or so.

The car seems to run smoothly without any loss in power.

Go to virtually any chain aout parts and get it read for free.

 

I'm guessing cat effeciency, EVAP (check gas cap), EGR, that kind of stuff.

 

But if you stop and have it read they will tell you - get the actual code P9999 and them come back here and search and see what others have done with the same code.
