Cleaning IAC valve

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've posted a few things here in the past, but never really introduced myself. I'm Brian from Spokane, Washington with a recently purchased 91 Loyale. I'm not the best with cars, but I'm really eager to learn so any help would be greatly appreciated!

My loyale is currently idling anywhere from 1000 to 1500 RPMS when warm, which from what I have read is abnormal. From some heavy use of the search button, I have came to the conclusion that I should clean out my IAC because that could be causing the problem. I can't figure out how in the world someone would fit a screwdriver into there to pull it off... Is there something I'm missing? or do you just throw some carb cleaner in it and start the engine or what?

Thanks in advance!

pop off the hose and pour some sea foam into the inlet till it fills up. go in the kar and turn the key on. The iac will open and the fluid will go down. turn key off and repeat. do this several times, let the car sit for a good 10 minutes, then start it up. Do this procedure for about a 3rd of the can.

If that don't do it, you can remove the short bolt from the alt and swing it up, and then you have room to get the screws.
