  2. Thanks for the replys. We made it safe but it was definitely a hot and somewhat miserable drive. How would you bypass the ground? Is the actual ground wire broken or what? I'll rip the door panel off This morning
  3. Myself and my girlfriend are on a 7 hour road trip( just heading out of town) and my power windows aren't working( none of them except the front drivers side. ) it's 90 degrees, my ac sucks, and we need help! Thanks
  4. Hello, My 91 Loyale recently started getting really hard to steer in some spots on the wheel. I tried searching but couldn't find anything. Is this alignment issues? My steering wheel is offset (when the wheel is turned left a quarter turn, the wheels are straight.) Thanks
  5. My apologies, I should have been more clear. It is not often that you will be using your amplifier or speakers to their full potential, especially at just "cruising" volumes. It's not really that hard for any brand amplifier to pull big number amps like that or produce high number watts... Actually turning your volume up enough to consume all of those 800 watts is pretty substantial. Your subwoofer would be fine with 500 watts RMS going to it even though its rated at 400 watts RMS. For one, most manufactures (Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, and JL Audio especially) underrate their subwoofers. For two, I really doubt that you are actually ever cranking the volume up to consume all of those 400 watts RMS. Thanks for the info on the alternator! If mine ever goes out, thats what I'll be upgrading to for sure. Did you junkyard yours?
  6. Oh yeah I totally agree that anything aftermarket will put strain onyour alternator. My point was that even though your amplifier has a 40 amp fuse, you will never use that much.
  7. Sorry for the double post, but I realized that I forgot to factor in amplifier efficiency. The alpine amplifier I mentioned before is a class d, which is around 80% efficient. That means that 20% of that current drawn from your battery/alternator is lost in the form of heat.
  8. Keep in mind that you will never be using the full watts or amperage that your amplifier is rated for. I have a 400 watt alpine amplifier powering my 10" kicker cvr. Playing a loud, bassheavy song I can only draw about 8 amps (measuring my positive wire from my battery to my amplifier.) this means I'm getting about 108 watts to my subwoofer, which in this case means about 106 decibels. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I've been doing quite a bit of research lately regarding this subject. Brian
  9. I had a shop take it out on Friday, and today I treated all the rust under the old gasket. The shop is putting it back in for me on Monday. I was surprised by the amount if rust under there. Too long and you'll have one leaky windshield.
  10. Would that explain why they work only sometimes? The relay isn't totally bad but not working well ?
  11. Thanks guys. Haven't had the chance to check the relays, but I'm gonna try to do that tomorrow. And an update, the dash lights turn on when the light switch to the first toggle the dashlights turn on. Then when you go to the next notch, they turn off any ideas?
  12. Hello all, I have been having some odd problems from the Loyale... Since I bought the car a few months ago, there has been a problem where if you stall the car or sometimes even if you just start it up when the headlight switch is in the on position, the dash lights don't work, and if you restart the car they don't kick back on. A few days ago I noticed how dim my left headlight was, so I checked the fuses, but found nothing. Now when I turn the lights on with the key on the switch before starting the car (electronics) the left headlight is dim, the right is normal, and the dash lights are off. When I start the car, after about a second the right headlight kicks into full blast and the dash lights turn on... Any thoughts? Thanks! Brian
  13. Hello all, I've posted a few things here in the past, but never really introduced myself. I'm Brian from Spokane, Washington with a recently purchased 91 Loyale. I'm not the best with cars, but I'm really eager to learn so any help would be greatly appreciated! My loyale is currently idling anywhere from 1000 to 1500 RPMS when warm, which from what I have read is abnormal. From some heavy use of the search button, I have came to the conclusion that I should clean out my IAC because that could be causing the problem. I can't figure out how in the world someone would fit a screwdriver into there to pull it off... Is there something I'm missing? or do you just throw some carb cleaner in it and start the engine or what? Thanks in advance!
  14. Hey man, I saw a post you wrote a long time ago about putting kicker KS600's in a brat, and I was wondering if you thought they would fit in my 91 loyale... They are on sale, $100 for a set of four speakers, and an excellent upgrade from what I have.

  15. Thanks a bunch, seems like that helped. Also, the steering wheel is crooked (turned when the wheels are straight) I've heard its an easy fix, but don't know how to do it myself...
  16. Yesterday I let my friend drive my 91 Loyale, and they left the e-brake on to the point of smoke coming out of the front driver side wheel area. Today, I have "hard points" in my steering, as if power steering is somehow being altered. Fluid is fine, so I'm not sure what the problem could be, and if the E-brake thing triggered it or not. Any help diagnosing would be great! Thanks, Brian
  17. I was looking through the classifieds and saw your post for the car haha. Yeah I'm not too worried about it, just haven't checked it yet. Spent some time on née plugs and wires, Pcv valve and an oil change so far, I love it!

  18. Same thing happened to me on my 91 Loyale. Messed with the dimmer a bunch with no luck. Haven't checked any fuses though...
  19. Thanks a bunch for the tips. What's the best way to clean it up? It's pretty greasy, which is to be expected with that age of an engine I suppose.
  20. Hello, I just recently purchased a 91 Loyale that I'm loving so far, my first Subaru and definately won't be my last. It has just over 200k on it, and seems to be leaking oil pretty quickly. I can't tell where it's coming from, and am not the best with cars (although I would love to learn). I was wondering if there are some gaskets that go out around this mileage, or other things that would cause the leaks. It's not very rapid, but drips a noticeable amount even when parked for short time periods. I called a Subaru Mechanic who said it's normal for the EA82 engine to have bad valves/gaskets, and to just bring it in, but I would like to see if there is anyhing I can check or fix reasonably easily.
