EA82T Total time bomb??

Featured Replies

Are they compleate and useless in realibilty department or is it how they are driven? Cheers, Jeff

If you want it to be a time bomb, just ignore it. Otherwise, keep the cooling system happy(non corroded radiator, fresh/regular coolant change, non leaky water pump , put fresh hoses on the turbo and the little hoses on the intake) and it will be as realiable as any other so long as you dont go cranking on the boost and beating it into submission.

any other mantenance points will be the same as any other ea82 regarding engine seals and timing belts, etc

Thanks Miles, always value your opinion. Jeff "No subaru left behind"

Heat is a Subaru's worst enemy, this is especially relavent to the EA82T engines. I had one that had a catalytic converter plug up and create excess back pressure. That, in turn, created more heat and then the head gasket blew. Listen to Miles, stay away from pumping up the boost and make sure your coolant system is working 100%!
