May 19, 201114 yr so my 88 GL with the 1.8 natural asparated will run and idle, but when you try to apply hardly any throttle it bogs out and dies. my fuel filter is good, and i just cleaned my MAF sensor. and the engine light comes on after a min or so.
May 20, 201114 yr Author so when i took it out on our property and was roddin the hell out of it it seems to do ok on the top end, but the bottom just doenst exist. and the engine light starts flashing at me, so i think the sensor is real bummed out at me or something.
May 20, 201114 yr Author there is 2 vacuum lines going to the throttle body that fell off, but it still doesnt run after i put them back on.
May 20, 201114 yr If you are getting a check engine light, then take the two screws off of the kick panel under the steering wheel and observe the flashing red light to find out the trouble code - long flashes are tens and short flashes are ones (it's under there, you might have to move the wires aside though). There is a good writeup about codes on the USRM here: http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49918 Once you know the code, post it here or search for the forum again for the topic you find listed under the code for hints. Other than that, yes vaccum lines, check the CTS too, it can cause what you describe.
May 23, 201114 yr Author cant seem to check the engine light?? thread says the connectors are to the right of the steering wheel, i have no non connected wires in sight. nothing at all? need to get it runnings. whats going on?
May 24, 201114 yr Author well, the ecu light just flashes 7 times and pauses, and just keeps repeating the 7 time flashes, and there is no number 70 or number 7 in the code read up they gave me. and i found 2 small clear connectors by the drivers side fire wall, but they didnt make a difference in the flashing sequence. thats the motor side of the fire wall by the way
May 25, 201114 yr There shouldbe green connectors. They may be plugged in. Refer to the 'engine code' article by searching. the code 7 is an identifications code. There is an LED on the ECU just under the steering column. drop the kick panel and you will see it. Use this LED to read the codes
May 26, 201114 yr Author yeah i know where it is, i can read it right now but i cant find any connectors that arnt already plugged in. and what do you mean by identification code?
