81 Brat radiator fans

Featured Replies

Hey gang, did the 81 or earlier Brat come with two radiator fans? Mine cam second hand with only one. I grabbed a gen 2 fan from the pick n pull, but now it looks like the radiator doesn't have the holes to mount it, nor do I see a free plug.

My '81 has AC and has two fans. One driven off the engine and a second on the passenger side that is electric and controlled via a thermostat.

I don't know if there were two fans in non-ac versions.

I have a non A/C 79 Brat and it only has one fan and its a 1.6L engine. Hope this helps????

Thanks for the data point. I'm beginning to think it only came with one, which is kinda wierd.

I believe that the California non a/c brats did come with both fans. My 78 is from Cali and has belt driven and the electric fan, as well as factory electronic ignition

Hmmm, I found out mine is a ca brat when I went in for emissions, but i t doesn't have connections for the second fan. I might just rig it up from the other fan connector.
