Burning oil

Featured Replies

93 Loyale spfi. Got all my leaks fixed, but now oil seems to still be leaking...always a slight smell of oil burning when I'm driving it, but I just figured there was still a small leak somewhere, burning off on the exhaust.

Two days ago, I start the car up, do a u-turn, and see a big cloud of blue smoke come out the exhaust. That's it. I take it on a small trip later that day (about 130 miles each way), and once on the drive over, I feel a drop in power, and a big puff of blue smoke out the tailpipe. That's it. There might have been one other puff while I was driving around town, but no constant cloud, doesn't seem to be related to hitting the gas.

It's always had some hesitation, sometimes when I first hit the gas (fairly normal Subaru thing in my experience..), and when I'm just driving along, I'll feel it lag here and there, like a miss or like I'm tapping the brakes. It had this feeling a bit on the drive there and back, but I'm not sure that the feeling is anything new. Could have just been a coincidence that one of the times coincided with the puff of smoke, but I don't know...

Anyway, why, if I'm burning oil, wouldn't it be more constat, rather than just a cloud here and there?
