spider intake problem

Featured Replies

so i got this spider intake from the 86.5? xt turbo, but i got everything together and relized that the upper dog bone mount will not fit becouse of the throttle body, i dont think there was a mount on the engine that i got, but i dont want to loose the dog bone mount, what do i do???????help

Its from an 87.5

You need to get the pitching rod stopper and bracket from an XT with a spider.. I believe it mounts to the tranny instead of the engine... you might want to get the crank pulley too, as it has the timing marks on it. you wont be able to see the ones on th flywheel with the spider and proper rod.

Check out my picture gallery from my CIS conversion:

You can get the tranny bracket and dogbone from any year XT, but it may need to have the same type of tranny as your car (auto/manual).

You will also need the shorter throttle cable from an XT with the spider intake. If you can't find one, I think I know where I can get one and sell it to you.

As for the crank pulley, you really just need the little timing mark plate that bolts onto the water pump. You can then paint your own TDC mark on your crank pulley. I say this because many (most?) XTs use ribbed belts instead of V-belts.

im thinking about just doing the ribbed belt thing anyway i have all the parts, and i have the marker and crank pulley, and waterpump ect, i will need the xt braket and shorter dogbone, and one of those short xt throttle cables
