Tranmission Help EA71 4wd

Featured Replies

OK,

Awkard situation this weekend. Was driving to work on the highway, I noted a change in the Tranmission sound (not a failure or something broken sound, but a change from the normal sound.) So I pulled over immediately into the grass on the side of the highway, Transmission oil is leaking out (not really fast but fast enough) So i Filled up the trannie quickly and turned around to come home, Stopped at a familiar place to check again. Trannie was gushing. a Bolt or something is missing. (anyway got it home after clogging the hole)

Transmission is a AFAIK 1980 model Brat 4WD 1600 EA71. There is a small hole in the rear just in front of the transmission cross member, driver side. I also have a drive train from a 1978 brat, this hole does not exist in the 78 transmission!

Can someone identify on their brat what goes in this hole??? a Bolt? I need some help as the Subaru dealers here don't have any information. Please see the pics here: http://s1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa331/danrenfroe2016/

The hole is smooth and about 3/8" dia or so.

Any suggestions? I need something to put in this hole so i can drive again!

Thanks.

Yikes!

Trying to look thru FPM but can't clearly see what that would be. I'll have to get back to this tomorrow. Good luck.

Check with the parts store for a rubber plug. They make them for replacing the oil pan drain plug when it gets stripped out. Would at least get you back on the road.
