October 30, 201114 yr Hi, Everyone! Just got my first Subaru (a Freebie!!!!), so I thought I would sign up here. Looks like a great place to hang out & get some great info, & maybe someone to go wheelin with up here in the wilds of eastern WA. The Sube I got needs new rings, but it doesnt look all that tough to do, thankfully. Its an 83 GL Wagon with air, electric mirrors & windows, and dual range 4wd. This is gonna be fun!!
October 30, 201114 yr Welcome to the group. You're fortunate to get a solid car to work on. The early '80s EA81 cars are among the most reliable that Subaru ever built. Certainly worth investing time and money in. Good luck.
October 31, 201114 yr .......The Sube I got needs new rings..... Welcome..... Love the "free" and love the older roo's. I've got multiple '84 roo's, each with 200,000+ miles plus.... not questioning need for rings nor your ability to diagnose but that usually is the last thing they need..... these are tough little motors. Of course I just ignor that one low head pressure and the bloody things just keep running! Post questions in the "older Generation Subaru sections" with pics...
