serious help needed short in 98 LEGACY

i have a serious issue that has popped up on my 98 legacy .. ok here we go ..

when i apply brakes , window motor , ac motor .. it causes stutter in electrical system enough to drain the motor from power and can die if i dont have few hundred extra rpm in engine ..... it does seem to start on its reactions when the abs kicks it selef in and there in lies my next issue

HOLY no brakes .. when applied in snow or loose ground even at 10 mph it stutters like abs should if i have locked em up but when it does the action of pumping the pedal at your foot it goes nuts on electrical and stall if not litlle extra rpms .... all i can say is hmmm .. maybe abs elec. or bad main ground some where .. because when it stall if i let it it will not restart for little while acts as if the starter is drained out but all electrical is ... and it will be dim lights and wait awhile and it will start up again with no issues .... wondering if my ignition could relay all that type of problem ..

PLEASE HELP ANYONE ... IT SLIDES A HUNDRED YARDS ON DUSTING OF SNOW .. I AM IN MOUNTAINS GONNA CRASH IF NOT FIXED

It sounds like you may have an electrical short somewhere. Unless you're good with wiring, I'd probably suggest taking it to someone that can troubleshoot the problem.

 

You could try removing certain fuses one at a time and see if that changes anything. That would help you narrow down the problem to a certain circuit/area.

Check your battery cables. Are they tight and free of corrosion?

Check the ground cable where it attaches to the body near the battery. Tight and fre of corrosion?

Take it to autozone or another parts store that will test the battery and alternator.

Yep... sounds like a battery terminal/cable with too much resistence. Try measuring to see if there's a voltage drop between the alternator (+) terminal and the (+) terminal at the battery, and do the same between the engine block and the (-) terminal at the battery. You should get a reading of 0V in both cases,

If this is the Georgetown next to I-70, maybe rethink the living in the Mts and what prep cars take. What was the overnight low? for Georgetown Colo it forcast to 0 degrees F sunday -4 for mon. Me thinks your battery tried to freeze, or is reduced capacity. lowered voltage 8, 9, or 10V could chatter the relays on everything. Seriously dont be a hazard to yourself and others. you need pro help and a tow to good shop. Was that light dusting of snow over black ice?

side note: The lake next to the Interstate freezes almost solid and they race open Jeeps w/ SBC chevys, 1"long bolts drilled into the tires for studs... 90 MPH WIND gusts can suck the windshield right out of a car at that exit. I've seen it

I tend to agree with everyone who has said this is charging system related. But a voltmeter on the battery. Should be around 12v . Running should be about 13-14v volts. And go over those cables and terminals real good. Corrosion can run right down the inside of a cable even though it looks fine on the outside.

hey every o ... everyone thank you and yes it was a ground problem . abs ground was shorting out on the fire wall .. traced thru volt meter and found and replaced wire and works great now ... and yes it is g town off i-70

i have lived in area before if you are familar enough to know the rest of your statement .. i did live on st marys up top at glacier .. so i know what i am gettting into .. mild winter down here to me ... :)... and oh yes winds are wicked they ripped the roof off girlfriends house 3 weeks ago and blew out windshields around town .....
