December 30, 201114 yr I have a 2000 legacy sedan. The drivers window goes down but won't come up. Sometimes if you play with the switch you can get it up. So thinking it was the switch I got a used master switch from a on line parts supplier, put it in and same problem. Ran 12 v power to the motor and it works great in both directions. Did I get a bad replacement switch or is there a relay that's bad. What am I missing. Help.
December 30, 201114 yr Similar thing happened to my 95. I hope this will apply to your car too. I pulled apart the master switch on the drivers door and found that the contacts needed to be bent to make proper contact. Windows work perfectly now. Hope that helps!
December 30, 201114 yr I had this same issue on my 2000 Legacy Outback. I pulled the switch out and popped off the bottom cover. Under that you will see the bottom of the circuit board. There are 4 or 6 contacts for each switch, and in the case of mine, the solder for the drivers switch didn't look so great. I re-soldered all the joints and haven't had a problem since. The same basic fix as the dash clock on the older cars. Hope that helps.
December 30, 201114 yr Author I'll try the solder fix first as I tried pulling the switch itself apart and that's not possible without destroying the switch. Thanks for the replies.
