January 18, 201214 yr I'm doing the five light swap on my hatch and wondering if it's bad to put the ea81t springs on legacy struts with the turbo tophat? I know most guys are running coilovers, but I have these springs. Any thoughts? Matt
January 20, 201214 yr I'm doing the five light swap on my hatch and wondering if it's bad to put the ea81t springs on legacy struts with the turbo tophat? I know most guys are running coilovers, but I have these springs. Any thoughts? Matt Those springs won't fit those struts. Sell them. EA81T springs are a decent upgrade for a street-going Brat/Hatch. You shouldn't have any problems finding a buyer. Jacob
January 20, 201214 yr Author Yeah I've got the whole vented rotor knuckle kyb strut and turbo spring combo, what's something like that worth?
January 20, 201214 yr Yeah I've got the whole vented rotor knuckle kyb strut and turbo spring combo, what's something like that worth? Hard to say with so many people tightening their belts. I know I just gave away a vented front knuckle setup, though. Jacob
January 20, 201214 yr Author So is there as factory spring that will fit the legacy strut and fit up in the ea81 strut tower? Or is cheap ebay coilovers my option till I can afford good springs?
January 20, 201214 yr So is there as factory spring that will fit the legacy strut and fit up in the ea81 strut tower? Or is cheap ebay coilovers my option till I can afford good springs? I'm not totally sure yet. It looks like STI springs will fit with either a small spacer or by hitting the outside edge of the tower with a hammer. I'm not sure which route I want to go, though. Jacob
January 20, 201214 yr Author Do the sti springs lower the car at all? Be curiosity what you come up with.
January 20, 201214 yr Do the sti springs lower the car at all? Be curiosity what you come up with. I have no idea yet:-p Jacob
January 20, 201214 yr Right now, it's up on jackstands with no springs, let alone struts, hubs, wheels, tires or brakes. My last setup was 2WD struts with RX springs, but that was a 6-lug setup. Jacob
January 20, 201214 yr Author Hey my hatch has the same stance. It's been sitting on jack stands for far too long. Started to change the water pump ended up in ej22, custom transmission, powersteering and a five lug swap.
January 21, 201214 yr Author I've seen those as your hatch has been the inspiration for mine. They're for a 90's VW right? What did you pay and where did you find that set up?
January 21, 201214 yr Author Nice, I keep hunting craigslist hoping to find something that would work. Nothing that cheap has come up yet.
January 25, 201214 yr i'm running TEIN adjustables with bearing adaptors i machined up to fit it to the EA81 strut caps
January 25, 201214 yr Author yeah I'd like to do coil overs when the budget will allow. How much do you have into your set up? I'm probably just going to buy cheap coilovers for the stock struts or go Sentra strut combo since the springs are pretty close to the ea81 size. Measured it in the car in a junkyard so it wasn't very scientific.
January 28, 201214 yr i didn't cost me much to get my struts cos i bought them off the the local equiv of ebay....the ears that fit onto the knuckles where bent on one of the struts so i got them real cheap... i looked at the damage in the pic's on the auction and reckoned that i could fix it....hydraulic press fixes all lol
January 29, 201214 yr Author Yeah I keep trolling craigslist to see if I can find something. Lucky honda coilovers sell pretty cheap. Just need funds lol
