Kwhistle Posted January 25, 2012 Share Posted January 25, 2012 A good friend of mine needs someone reliable to take a look at his car. It's an almost problem-free 2003 OBW. A local Midas did an oil change for him and they found just way too many problems with it. It also consumes lots of oil, and has some clicks when steering. I am not an independent Subie mechanic, but do know a thing or two about Subies, as I work on the two that I own. I do trust a nearby independent shop to do honest work on my car, and can recommend them. I would be glad to take a look at the car, if that would be helpful. I would not trust anything advised by anyone from a Midas shop on any topic. Their people are trained to search out work to be done on any car that comes into their shop, regardless if the car needs the work done or not. I'm somewhat of a treeshade "mechanic", and generally don't trust chain stores too much.
