March 23, 200422 yr This is my 1st Turbo'd car... and my 1st EJ engine as well. I was wondering if fuel addatives like FI cleaner or MMO would do more harm than good? Im used to dumping a few quarts of MMO through the carb on my EA81, but that's a whole different engine. I also love the way the engine is running right now, and want to do what I can to ensure it will stay this way. Can anyone give me any tips on upkeep on the EJ22's and the EJ22T? Thanks guys -Brian
March 23, 200422 yr The EJ series engines are carbon piggies, so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea. A lot of us over on the bbs have used seafoam and really like the results. Napa I believe carries it, and you can probably find a local retailer from their site http://www.seafoamsales.com
March 23, 200422 yr Author Yeah, im aware of seafoam. How do you guys use it? Just add it to a tank of gas? -Brian
March 24, 200422 yr Never used SeaFoam, but if you search the word "hesitation" on the BBS, you'll spend days sorting through it all. A very big problem. I used 3 bottles of Lubro-Moly Jectron FI cleaner, 3 tanks in a row. That has not 100% cured my hesitation, but it has made a bigger improvement than anything else I've tried. Don't bother with the Prestone FI cleaner garbage you get in Autozone, you might as well pour water in your tank...
March 24, 200422 yr seafoam can be used several different ways. You can pour it in the gas tank, you can let the motor suck it in the intake manifold, and you put it in the crankcase.
