What does this sounds mean D=

Featured Replies

So recently, I've noticed a small grinding noise that seems to come from the rear of my manual FT4WD xt6. It only happens when using the gears to control vehicle speed going downhill.

Any ideas on what this could be?

rear wheel bearings, possible. when you use the brake, the caliper can cancel the sound, but when coasting, the edge of the disc rotor may be dragging on the caliper bracket. look for a shiny spot on the caliper bracket.

Could also be the big main bearing on the rear of the upper shaft int eh trans.

They like to grumble under load.

Well, I'm going to have to pay someone to help me fix this. Also, I'm planning on replacing my Trans/lsd soon as it is. Is this worth fixing if I'm going to replace said items in the next like 2 months? Or does this need to be attended to sooner?

Ok, now it makes the sound when slowing down by any means D= and there's a "fwipita " sound that accompanies it. Pardon the onomatopoeia :D
