clear coat peeling help

Featured Replies

does anybody know how to take clear coat off a paint with out hurting the paint very much?? i hate to repaint the truck:banghead:

I hear that Vegatable Oil works, the good thing is that it wont hurt your paint!!:brow: Or you can wet sand it with like 2000 or finer sandpaper then wax it that will for sure fix it and will be nice!!!:burnout:

yeah i try wet sanding:eek: boy thats is some work:madder: am going to try veg oil thanks

I would take some compound to it, or wet sand some extremely fine grit sandpaper. I'm talking #650 or finer.

Once it's all smoothed out you can polish/wax it, and this will give you a more uniform appearance. However, the wax wont hold up for very long. You'll have to wax often (every couple months) to keep it looking good.

Clear coats are a great development in paint technology. You might consider having a new coat applied if the base (color) coat is still in good condition.

good luck, John

If not go the we sanding route it isnt that tough, and it should be a permanment fix:wave: Goodluck

yeah i got a electric sander:D i'll show that clear cloat huh:clap:

Careful with that. You'll go down to metal reeeeal quick. Best to wet-sand the offending areas and get clear sprayed over it again.
