Error Code 35 in an 86 XT Turbo?...

Featured Replies

Ok, so my ECU is throwing a code 35 at me (Air flow meter/EGR solenoid switch or circuit) and as far as I can tell, my car has neither of those parts...

Also, I own the 6 part 86 FSM and ECC (what the ECU is called in the book) doesn't even have an error code 35 in it...

Thoughts???

86xt turbo is mpfi I had an 86xt dl with no options not even a back seat but it was still mpfi.

it should have an airflow meter(the thing on the airbox)

The egr solenoid is under the intake on the passenger side closer to the firewall. If you follow the vacuum lines it should lead to the EGR.

Unless the car in question has been modified it should have those.

Ok, so I think I you're right (it does have an EGR).

Why would the 6 volume set not have error code 35 in it?

What does the EGR look like? Anyone have a photo? Every photo I find of an egr on a parts site is not on the passenger side. It is closer to the distributor behind the plenum. See link: http://www.drivewire.com/vehicle/subaru-xt/egr-valve/http://

I took this part off and cleaned it last night, and the ecu is still throwing a 35. Also, I thought this was the IAC. If that's not the IAC, where is that part then?

When I find the right part, Is the egr serviceable, or do I need to replace it?

I swapped the MAF over from an XT that's in better condition, so it can't be that now.

Because that's covered in section 2...engine. Under Fuel Injection, and also some under the emmisions section.

I'll double check at home tonight from the 86 FSM.

Codes for the early MPFI cars are different from later years, with 85 and 86 both having there own set of codes.
