July 16, 201213 yr When I purchased this 83 it would not take fuel without dieing. It idles rough and even if you slowly try to increase the RPM it spits and dies. The previous owner installed new distributor guts. I have changed the 1 barrel manifold to a 2 barrel and installed a NEW Weber. Installed a new fuel pump. New plugs and wires, correctly. Compression is 140 PSI all cylinders. Does the 83 have a computer? I have worked on cars for 60+years and this thing has me about to say " calf rope". Help! Jack pajack1939@sbcglobal.net

Jack pajack1939@sbcglobal.net With everything you have done and checked. The only things I can think of are that something isn't quite right with the disty or the flywheel is clocked wrong. The computers on the '83 basically just controlled the feedback systems of the carb. A Weberized ea81 that has had all the emmissions hoohah removed will be unaffected. Is your exhaust hooked up and leak free?
July 16, 201213 yr Author Thank you, the exhaust is free and tight. I think it has a Nippon distributor. I am tempted to find a rebuilt or a good used one, Jack
July 17, 201213 yr That's what I'd think also, a dist./timing issue still. Is an ea81 manifold a 1-barrel and a carb'd ea82 manifold a 2-barrel?
