Well, I bought my factory cruise control from a dealer trying to clear out his inventory.. 85.00!!! Installed it myself at about 140,000 miles. Car now has 205,000 miles and runs like a champ but my cruise control light went out!

 

I'm having nightmares about this! I have to push the button and check every time I put the cruise control on ti see if it's working!!!!!

 

Is this an easy fix or am I wasting my time?

This was an easy fix on my 1998 Legacy L. Search for threads on this topic. As I recall, the switch can be removed by shoving it out of the dash from the rear, then unplugging the harness. I used the Radio Shack bulbs (the ones used for the climate control bulb replacement) for the cruise control switch. I would replace both bulbs in the switch while you are at it.

Easy fix. It takes a pair of sharp tweezers and a small pair of side cutters to twist the legs of the bulb through the plastic bulb holder and trim them to length.

 

Or, you can buy the whole bulb and holder as a part from the dealer.
