July 25, 201213 yr I'm looking for a muffler for my '86 Brat and all the major online retailers tell me it's not available. I want it to be stock/quiet. Can any point me in the right direction, give me a part #, etc? Thanks.
July 25, 201213 yr I used a Mgnaflow SS muffler. It isn't stock quite but not that loud either. Anyways any stock style muffler the same size can be welded in just as this Magnaflow was. Look at Walker mufflers, they make oem style quiet mufflers. Truely I love the Magnaflow though. Reminds me of an older 4 cyl Porsche sound.
July 25, 201213 yr Bosal used to make a nice one but stopped in 2008. 229-577 It may be possible to find old inventory of that item, was a good part. Otherwise a round muffler is what it is and an exhaust shop can probably install one for around $125 if you shop around.
July 25, 201213 yr I have the Bosal. Bought it a few years ago from a AZ store in VA. Just looked at AZ and they do show it, but its unavailable.
July 25, 201213 yr Mine is not round that is why I say many can be adapted. We are getting ready to leave for the day. If I have time when I get home I will measure it and tell you the offsets/dimensions. Then look for a Walker or similar oem style muffler.
July 27, 201213 yr You could probably find one on any old suby in a wrecking yard and have it welded on.
July 28, 201213 yr What is the difference between an '86 and an '84? The '84 is still available though Rockauto but the '86 is not.
