Running into problems with 02 impreza 2.5 ts

Featured Replies

Two things. 1 is the worst one.

1: I hear a hissing noise from my engine at least I'm sure that's where it is from. It's louder and longer with the higher rpms and quieter and shorter with the lower and pretty much random. I have no idea what it is

2: I need to know where I can get reliable cv axels for my 2002 impreza 2.5ts wagon. The right boot is torn and I figure I was gonna just replace the whole thing. And maybe both.

Any help or tips for an army subie lover?

Empi Axles are the best "non OE" axle made. http://www.showmetheparts.com/EMPI/

As for the hissing, the air intake is made of cheap plastic and has air chamber and resonator that either slip together or have 2 aluminum rivets holding it together. You could have one of those disconnected. Make sure the Airbox housing clamp to the throttle body is tight. Since you say its random, are you sure its not belt squeal or a bearing going out on the AC belt tensioner? the AC clutch will make noise too when/if the bearing starts to fail in the AC pump
