December 12, 201213 yr I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me identify which wire goes to which switch and what each one does. I was able to identify one. Also, the wiring broke off the switch. Is there a place that has re-manufactured these switches or are the only place to find them is in wrecking yards? Any help would be appreciated. Bryan
December 12, 201213 yr 1= reverse light 2= Nuetral switch 3=4wd light 4=lowrange light I would need to know what car this is going into to tell you where to wire things up.
December 13, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the info! It will be going on an 89 GL. Just need to know now to which connector the #1 (reverse) and #2 (neutral) switches goes to. Female receptacle (white plug) and male connector (black plug).
December 13, 201213 yr Author By the way, what does the neutral switch do? I wouldn't think it has a light for being in neutral, but I don't see why it needs one..
December 13, 201213 yr The neutral switch tells the computer it's in neutral so it knows when you are engine braking and when you are coasting. At least that's what I've read here on the board. I do know for a fact it is wired to the ECM, at least on SPFI cars
December 13, 201213 yr Thanks for the info! It will be going on an 89 GL. Just need to know now to which connector the #1 (reverse) and #2 (neutral) switches goes to. Female receptacle (white plug) and male connector (black plug). I believe the black connector is for "lo" light. The other wires are all in the white 6 pin connector. Reverse lights are Green/white and green/blue??? wires IIRC. 4wd wires are red/white and red. The other 2 are neutral switch. You will need to connect these wire to the interior where the 3AT shifter was plugged in. All the wiring is there. You may not have a lo light in your dash. And If you leave the bulb in it the "N" light will be on when you are in neutral.
