2009 Legacy 2.5 GT

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm looking for a 2009 Legacy 2.5 GT. First car. Budget's around 18,000. Do you guys think I can get a good used car? Reliability especially, since I'm assuming a 2009 Legacy 2.5 GT for $18,000 would have more than 60,000 miles.

Welcome to the USMB.

Most of the routine maintenance is around 100k, so if it's got 60k, it should be ok for a little while longer.  Being that it's a turbo engine, try and see what maintenance records are available if any, and that the oil was changed regularly.

I hate to sound like a dad, but since you say its going to be your first car, can you afford what comes with a turbo charged car?

Premium fuel costs

The speeding tickets that will most likely show up because of the turbo

The added insurance costs for the turbo

The shortened and more frequent oil changes that a turbo requires

Turbo charger replacement costs, since many go bad early

If you are prepared for the above, then by all means search out a GT.
