I could really use a back seat to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

First,  I would remove some useless emissions.  General Disorder did a great write up on removing a few items and then adjusting the carb.  Others advocate putting in a Weber Carberator... but the first one doesn't cost anything and helps it run a bit peppier/smoother.

Second, If you have some extra cash, put in a 5-speed transmission.  Bratsrus1, builds tranny kits and you will have to locate a 5-sp tranny from a wagon from about a 82 to 89 wagon.  This is the best mod you can do to start with but does cost.  So lets say $150 for tranny, $1xx.00 for tranny kit, clutch disc.. and lengthen drive line which cost the most of all the parts so real price saving if you know someone who does drive-lines. (5 speed tranny is shorter than the 4 speed.)

So do a "Search" on EA-81 engine and 5-speed conversion etc.. read, read, read,...

I did both above on my 84 Brat and it is a great road warrior.

Lifting a rig to me would be last on the list.

Also, rust.... address the rust.  Look where the jack points are and that under area can be treated by an under sealant.

Looks like a nice subie.  $500.  not bad.

yes he has 3 hatchies for sale. 1 runs and drives, 1 has a rebuilt motor that needs install finished, and 1 runs and drives but is off road only. and he has lots of body parts and other misc stuff

I just bought an '87 Standard model with 75k original miles on it.  I'm used to the GL model wagons, sedans and hardtops and forgot they actually made these cars with rubber floor mats!  It's all good, because it does have the one option available on these cars...air conditioning!  Since this is going to be a commuter car, I really don't need more than that.  But I sure would like to get a line on a couple of parts...like a wing window latch for the passenger's side, a nice headliner (without holes in it) and a nice looking grille.

Hi! Nice find!

I purchased a 1980 Hatchback about 2 years ago.   When I found the car it was in horrible shape.  It had a horrible green color and the interior was ripped to pieces.  Luckily the body was solid and the engine was good.   Since then I have done this! It is now  a completely different car and currently everything is working.

For $500 it looks lijke a real bargain! Here that kind of money would buy a scrap spares-only heap.
